JUDGE NOT OTHERS

JUDGE NOT OTHERS

Baba said, "Let all the senses and mind be ever devoted to the worship of the Lord, let there be no attraction for any other thing; fix the mind in remembering Me always" in Sri Sai Satcharitra, Ch. VI.

When Sadi, the renowned holy man of Islam, was a young boy, his father took him to the mosque in order to observe a vigil.

Several people had gathered together at the mosque to join the all-the-night prayer. As the vigil progressed, Sadi observed that many of the participants were beginning to doze off one after another until the last, only Sadi and his father were awake.

The young boy turned to the father and whispered, "Look, father, only the two of us are awake. Every one else has fallen asleep!

The father reprimanded him, "It is better that you don't observe the vigil, rather than come here to find fault with others!"

How futile it is to look for others' faults and weaknesses! It is also much more worthwhile to look for the faults in ourselves! If your neighbour has a dozen vices and a single virtue, admire him for that one virtue! If he has a dozen virtues and a single vice, forget his own failing!
