·         You need to know the best way to change your wife's attitude is to change your own.

·         You need to know you might have to learn to sleep with someone who makes noises at night. Strange noises.

·         You need to know that, in the beginning, you'll desire each other more than a good night's sleep.

·         You need to know this won't always be true. But that doesn't mean you're falling out of love. You just need sleep.

·         You need to know it's important you both believe the other will stand by you.

·         You need to know to thank God for every anniversary. And to go all out on the big ones.

·         You need to know to take pictures of each other from day one.

·         Years later, they'll remind you of what a hot number you married.

·         You need to know that whatever you look for in each other, you'll find.

·         You need to know there's not a marriage problem that love, compassion, forgiveness, and respect can't solve.

·         You need to know, as life gets more complicated, your marriage might too.

·         You need to know marriage means it's time to quit hanging out with your single friends.

·         You need to know to make friends and hang out with happily married couples. These relationships increase the likelihood of you staying together.

·         You need to know that sometimes you need to talk to your best girlfriend more than you need to talk to your husband

·         You need to know that a loving marriage is like a living thing. You have to nourish it daily.

·         You need to know each of you will have your own opinions, beliefs, interests, and faults.

·         You need to know to not make fun of each other. The other person will never see the humor.

·         You need to know to change your MySpace and Facebook pages to "Couple" status. So everyone will know you are now a "we."

·         You need to know that if your parents divorced, it's natural to worry that disaster will strike your marriage too.

·         You need to know that even if your parents divorced several times, that isn't a predictor of your marriage. Your thoughts and actions are more important factors.

·         You need to know there'll be some days you'll have to really work at loving the other person. Especially those days when she's snarling at you.
