Mobiles are a woman's new best friend!

Mobiles are a woman’s new best friend!

Who needs a man? At least women don’t (ignore the pun) —they seem to have their cell phones for company. A recent survey carried out on 4,000 women living in Australia has revealed some interesting facts. Read on all you guys.

The survey states that four out of every 10 women admitted that they would be lost without their mobiles but would happily do without a man in their lives. It also goes on to reveal that losing their cell phones is more upsetting for women than splitting with their boyfriends. Now that’s what we call the e-effect!

Today’s woman is no more dependant on the opposite sex for anything. And this study only establishes the fact that women are no longer emotional fools, as they have often been considered. Actress Neetu Chandra makes an interesting revelation: “Yes, I agree that women feel closer to their cell phones than to their men. But you can’t blame a woman for feeling that way. A mobile is a girl’s ideal confidante and her real friend in need. What’s most important is that mobiles don’t break hearts. Can you expect men to be all of these?”

Bollywood siren Koena Mitra who has just found her Mr Right in Mete Meral, a Turkish pilot and businessman, says, “Cell phones are essential for communication which in turn is a pre-requisite when it comes to any relationship. In a way, these days having no cell phone means no boyfriend. I have lost my cell phones many times and things really got stressful for me then. I guess there can’t be a life without a cell phone.” Probably her cell phone even played a great part in getting her the dream man she’d been looking for.

As part of the survey, the women were asked whether they would dump their boyfriends for money and the answer came in unison— they would consider doing so, if they were offered more than $ 1 million in cash. Researchers say that the survey’s results showed the changing focus of what is important in many women’s lives today. “Losing a cell phone is more stressful than losing a boyfriend. A cell phone is likely to be more permanent (than a man) in your life. I’ve never lost my mobile, I guard it with my life and I’d be shattered if I lost it!” says actress Mrinalini Sharma.

“That women can do without men, but not live without cell phones could be due to the fact that women have better verbal skills than men. Therefore, there is greater need for communication among women and they tend to feel closer to cell phones, the best mode of communication these days,” explains psychiatrist Prabhakar Korada.

Screen scorcher Sameera Reddy has the last word: “I did lose my cell phone once and it was like a calamity. Cell phones are more useful than boyfriends these days.”

So all you ladies relax. It’s fine to have the mobile as a lifeline; there are loads of celebs who agree with you on that!
