FAITH IS BELIEVING

FAITH IS BELIEVING

“From where shall we get Rs. 25,000/- for our daughter’s marriage?” said an anxious husband to his wife. He worked as an assistant in a government office, was strictly honest and never accepted a bribe. His salary was just enough to balance the expenditure.

The wife, however, was unperturbed. Quietly she said to her husband, “I have sent a telegram to my father. He will answer it at the right time.”

The husband could not understand. His father-in-law had passed away a few years ago, without leaving anything for his daughter. In sheer wonderment, he asked his wife, “To whom have you sent the telegram? Your father is no more!”

“To my heavenly Father, of course,” said the wife. “His stores are always full. He will send us the required money at the right time.”

The husband said, “I didn’t know you were that senseless! You didn’t realize the gravity of the situation. The date of the marriage is fast approaching. And we have no money. What shall we do?”

Some days passed by. The husband worried and fumed and fretted, but could do nothing. Then, one evening, as he returned from work, he was exited. “Your Father had received the telegram,” he announced. “And the answer has come today!” He proceeded to tell his wife that one of his distant relatives, whom he had almost forgotten, passed away leaving him a legacy of a lakh of rupees.

The woman’s happiness knew no bounds. And, lifting her tear-touched eyes in gratitude to God, she sang a song of praise.

Her faith had triumphed. Faith is not believing that God can: faith is believing that God will.
